Application Process

Admission to Starehe is a rigorous but fair process grounded in the principles of equity, merit, and transformation. Applicants begin by expressing their need and desire to join Starehe through the Yellow Form (Boys’ Centre) or Blue Form (Girls’ Centre). Shortlisted candidates are invited for interviews based on their KCPE performance and background, after which family means are assessed to determine the appropriate fee category.

Attain high performance in KCPE to meet the academic threshold.

Undergo a rigorous vetting process, including interviews and means testing.

Fee Structure

Starehe operates a tiered fee model:

  • Up to 70% of students are on need-based support and pay minimal or no fees.

Up to 30% are fee-payers, supporting the institution’s sustainability. All students, regardless of financial background, receive the same education, support, and care. Fees are determined strictly by the family’s capacity to pay, with some paying rates comparable to top private schools.

Excel in KJSEA

Admission is highly competitive. Starehe does not use a fixed cut-off score. Instead, candidates must aim for top marks in the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).

Fees & Sponsorship

Category Details
Sponsored Students 70% of students are from low-income backgrounds. Sponsorship is made possible through donations from alumni and well-wishers globally.
Fee-Paying Students 30% pay fees based on family means, with a set economic minimum.

Important Notes

Admission to Starehe does not disqualify a student from receiving external sponsorship.
If awarded external support, it will go directly toward covering tuition and other school expenses.
