Strengthening Our Leadership: New Appointments to the Starehe Senior Leadership Team

We are pleased to share a new chapter in the journey of Starehe Boys’ Centre and School, marked by the appointment of two key leaders to our senior leadership team. Effective 1st April 2025, the Managing Committee has appointed:
• Mr. Evans Ligeve Njoro as Assistant Director – Resource Mobilization & Partnerships
• Mr. Patrick Irungu Waithaka as Assistant Director – Student Welfare
These appointments are part of our continued efforts to strengthen the Centre’s management structure and reaffirm our commitment to efficiency, accountability, and long-term growth. Mr. Patrick Irungu Waithaka – A Steadfast Pillar of Student Welfare.

Mr. Waithaka is a familiar and respected figure within Starehe, having served diligently in various administrative roles over the years. In his new capacity as Assistant Director (Student Welfare), he will continue to champion the well-being and holistic development of our boys — ensuring they receive the care, guidance, and structure they need to thrive both academically and personally.
In addition to his student welfare responsibilities, Mr. Waithaka will also take on specific duties currently housed within the Director’s office, contributing to the school’s broader leadership and operational oversight. Mr. Evans Ligeve Njoro – Leading Resource Mobilization with Heart and Vision.

An Old Starehian and former School Captain, Mr. Njoro brings with him a strong legacy of service, leadership, and proven expertise in the nonprofit and development sectors. With an impressive background in fundraising, partnership development, and executive leadership, he is well-positioned to help Starehe build robust and sustainable resource partnerships.
As Assistant Director (Resource Mobilization & Partnerships), Mr. Njoro will work closely with the Old Starehian Society, the Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust, and other stakeholders to ensure that the Centre remains well-resourced to meet its current and future ambitions. Like Mr. Waithaka, he will also assume select responsibilities from the Director’s office to enhance the Centre’s operational capacity.
Looking Ahead
These appointments reflect our ongoing mission to restore and reinforce strong leadership at the Centre — ensuring Starehe continues to meet the evolving needs of our students, community, and global supporters.
We warmly invite the entire Starehe community — parents, students, alumni, staff, and partners — to welcome Mr. Njoro and Mr. Waithaka into their new roles, and to support them as they serve the Centre with distinction and purpose.
Together, we move forward.
