Innovation & Mentorship in Action: Empowering Students Through Design Thinking

On Saturday, 17th, our school hosted an inspiring Innovation and Mentorship Programme aimed at equipping students with practical problem-solving and entrepreneurial skills for the future.
The programme was graced by Ibafaa Africa, in partnership with Buni Base, a design thinking and innovation community focused on social change and leadership development.
Learning to Understand Problems Deeply
The sessions introduced students to empathy mapping, a core design-thinking tool that helps innovators understand real human needs before proposing solutions. Through guided activities, learners explored how to identify challenges within their communities by focusing on people’s experiences, emotions, and pain points.
This approach encouraged students to move beyond assumptions and instead design solutions rooted in genuine understanding.
From Ideas to Impact: The Art of the Pitch
Students were also trained on how to pitch an idea in just three minutes — a critical skill in today’s innovation and startup ecosystem. They learned how to clearly articulate a problem, propose a solution, and communicate value confidently and concisely.
The pitching sessions were engaging and demonstrated strong creativity, confidence, and critical thinking among the learners.
Building Tech-Driven Solutions
A key highlight of the programme was guiding students to develop technology-driven solutions to real-world problems. By combining empathy, creativity, and innovation, students explored how digital tools can be leveraged to address social challenges and drive positive change.
Shaping Future Innovators and Leaders
This mentorship programme aligns with our commitment to nurturing forward-thinking, solution-oriented students prepared for the evolving demands of the modern world. We are grateful to Ibafaa Africa and Buni Base for sharing their expertise and passion with our learners.
As we continue to integrate innovation, mentorship, and technology into learning, experiences like these play a vital role in shaping confident leaders and impactful change-makers of tomorrow.
