The Kenya National Music Festival is one of the country’s most prestigious stages, where talent, culture, and creativity from across Kenya are celebrated. This year, the festival held at Meru School brought together schools, colleges, and community groups in a showcase of music and performance excellence. Among the standout participants was Starehe Boys Centre and School, whose performances left an indelible mark on the festival.

Starehe Boys showcased their musical diversity through both instrumental and choral performances, competing in highly competitive categories such as Brass No. 7, Wind No. 3, and African Western No. 7. Their trademark discipline, stage presence, and energy ensured that every performance was not only technically strong but also captivating to the audience.

The highlight of Starehe’s participation was the Boys’ Choir performance of “Ikero”, a piece that demanded mastery of rhythm, harmony, and emotion. The choir rose to the occasion, earning a coveted national trophy and affirming Starehe’s reputation as one of Kenya’s finest music schools.

Starehe also impressed in a collaborative performance with Starehe Girls Centre, where the two choirs joined voices to deliver breathtaking choral harmonies that celebrated both teamwork and shared heritage. The collaboration underscored Starehe’s long tradition of excellence, unity, and cultural appreciation.

Beyond the trophies, the festival was an opportunity for the students to demonstrate values deeply ingrained in Starehe’s identity—discipline, hard work, and teamwork. These values shone through every performance, making the school not only a competitor but also an inspiration to the audience and fellow schools.

Speaking about the festival, representatives of Starehe emphasized that such opportunities are not just about winning but also about nurturing talent, building confidence, and providing a platform for holistic education.

With their success at the 2025 Kenya National Music Festival, Starehe Boys Centre has once again demonstrated that education at Starehe goes beyond the classroom—it is about transforming lives and empowering young people to excel in all areas of life.
