Hon. Esther Passaris Visits Starehe Boys’ Centre, Supports Students and Tree-Growing Initiative

Hon. Esther Passaris, Nairobi County Women Representative, visited Starehe Boys’ Centre & School, where she supported students through five full sponsorships and joined the Starehe community in planting 200 trees.
Hon. Esther Passaris Supports Five Starehe Students
Starehe Boys’ Centre & School had the honour of welcoming Hon. Esther Passaris, Nairobi County Women Representative, during a visit focused on education, environmental stewardship and service.
As part of her support for education, Hon. Passaris presented five full sponsorships for students to pursue their education from Grade 10 through Grade 12.
The sponsorships will provide the selected students with an opportunity to continue their education and pursue their aspirations while benefiting from the academic and holistic development offered at Starehe Boys’ Centre & School.
The gesture reflects the importance of creating opportunities for young people to access quality education and develop the skills and values needed to contribute positively to society.
Hon. Passaris Joins Starehe in Planting 200 Trees
The visit also featured an environmental conservation initiative as Hon. Passaris joined the Starehe community and the Kenya Forest Service in planting 200 trees within the school.
The tree-planting activity formed part of the Government’s National Tree-Growing and Restoration Campaign, contributing to efforts to increase tree cover and promote environmental conservation.
For Starehe, the initiative will contribute to a greener school environment while creating a lasting legacy for current and future generations of students.
The activity also provided an opportunity for students and members of the Starehe community to participate directly in environmental stewardship and appreciate the importance of protecting and restoring the environment.
A Message of Discipline, Purpose and Service
During her engagement with the students, Hon. Passaris shared words of wisdom on the importance of supporting others and giving back to society.
She encouraged the boys to embrace discipline, purpose and service, reminding them of the responsibility that comes with the opportunities they receive.
Her message resonated with Starehe’s longstanding emphasis on developing students beyond academic achievement, nurturing young people who are prepared to serve their communities and contribute meaningfully to society.
Hon. Passaris Reflects on Her 2018 Starehe Visit
The visit also created a special moment of reflection when Hon. Passaris was presented with a portrait capturing her earlier visit to Starehe during Founders’ Day in 2018.
The presentation connected a memorable moment from the past with her continued association with Starehe Boys’ Centre & School, highlighting the enduring relationships built between the school and its supporters.
The moment offered a reflection on the passage of time and the continued impact of partnerships that support education and the development of young people.
Celebrating Education, Environment and Service
Hon. Esther Passaris’ visit brought together three important areas of the Starehe mission: creating educational opportunities, caring for the environment and nurturing a spirit of service.
Through the five sponsorships, 200 trees planted and her engagement with the students, the visit provided both immediate support and a message that will continue to inspire the Starehe community.
Starehe Boys’ Centre & School remains committed to nurturing students through academic excellence, character development, discipline and service, while working with partners and supporters to create opportunities that enable young people to realise their potential.
The day was a celebration of opportunity, environmental stewardship and the values that continue to shape the Starehe spirit.
